So, it’s officially after Labor Day and if you’re like me then you’re still contemplating wearing white. Maybe it’s your favorite pair of white jeans or even those white shoes that you’ve only worn a few times over the summer.
Either way, you’re not ready to say goodbye for the season.
Wearing white after Labor Day may be considered a fashion “faux pau” but it’s perfectly okay to break the rule…if you do it correctly. (wink).
Keep reading, and I’ll show you how.
~Some rules were meant to be broken~
Jaelyn Desiree`

Being that Labor Day marks the “unofficial” end of summer, I always find myself wishing for a few more months of warm weather.
I tend to dread the transition into fall and winter, in addition to packing away my summer clothes.
You’d think that I’d be used to it since I grew up in the Midwest but…. nope!
Let me start by saying that it’s perfectly okay to break the “no white after Labor Day” rule. It originated in the early 1900’s when clothing guidelines from season to season were more formal.
Fast forward to today, when rebellious fashion statements are the norm and you’re totally off the hook.

If you live in a year round warm climate, it almost makes sense to continue wearing white. White clothing reflects the sun and will definitely keep you cooler.
However, if you live in a climate where season changes are obvious, you’ll want to be more strategic in the way that you do it.

Here are 4 simple and quick tips to help you to look chic in white after Labor Day
1. Pair your white garment with a bold fall color or print
The tiger print detail on my capri’s and the leopard print clutch incorporates fall colors to my look.
Its a distinct way to distract the eye away from the white blazer, while still allowing it to be the prominent color in the outfit.
2. Keep your white garments minimal
Instead of wearing white from head to toe, opt for a top or bottom piece instead.
For example, white gym shoes/sneakers can be worn year round without so much as a side eye from those around you.
Be sure to keep whatever white item you choose minimal and allow the colors of the season to get their shine, too.
3. Wear heavier fabrics
Transitioning from your flowy silks, jerseys and chambray fabrics and into fabrics like cashmere, wool and leather is essential. Heavier fabrics in white make such a bold statement!
Therefore, while everyone else is wearing the usual dark colors of the season, you’ll be a stand out.
One of my favorite staple wardrobe pieces happens to be a white leather motorcycle jacket. It transitions well from summer right into fall.
